What to expect with my epidermal levelling treatment?
It is important and standard practice prior to any epidermal levelling treatment at Chi Skin Rejuvenation Clinic to have a comprehensive consultation. This is where you can communicate your goals for the treatment whilst your Chi therapist can assess your problem areas and devise the best course of action. At this time, a thorough assessment of your skin concerns is performed, any post treatment requirements detailed and your overall expected outcome communicated to you.
On the day of your treatment, you will be escorted into one of our state of the art treatment rooms by your Chi skin therapist, knowing you are in the best hands possible. You will be confident Chi’s clinic hygiene standards are second to none, you will know exactly what your treatment entails, what to expect during the post treatment process, and most importantly that you will achieve the results discussed with your therapist. As your treatment commences you will feel tightening of the skin as your therapist applies tension to the area receiving the Epiblade. This is not painful or uncomfortable and no anaesthetic is required. Initially, the face or area treated may be slightly red, although this will quickly resolve. There is little to no downtime after an Epidermal Leveling treatment and patients can return to normal activities immediately. IPL or LED therapy can also be used in conjunction with the treatment to increase the benefits and maintain the newly acquired, youthful complexion.
Depending on the treatment programmed design specifically for you, you will return 4-6 weeks later for your continuing programme. You will also receive guidance on the best post treatment home care plan for you to maximise your treatment results.
What is epidermal levelling?
Epidermal Leveling, also referred to as Dermaplaning or Blading, is an exfoliation procedure designed to smooth the appearance, reduce fine lines, and reduce acne scarring. The innovative technique carefully removes the top layers of the tissue, ridding the face of the dead skin and ‘peach fuzz’ that can trap in dirt and oils. The procedure will allow for new skin to appear, brightening the complexion. Epidermal Levelling uses a specially designed scalpel blade to safely scrape the dead skin from your face. It tends to remove slightly more skin than microdermabrasion and has the advantage of removing any annoying facial hair. Epidermal Levelling is a safe, painless and highly effective clinical treatment designed to evenly and deeply exfoliate the skin of the face and back. It improves the texture of the skin, reduces fine fair facial hair and helps significantly enhance the penetration of active products. It is an excellent preparation for peels and can also be a standalone procedure. Epidermal levelling can be done on the face, forearms and back. Epidermal levelling performed on the back helps to reduce the bacterial colony existing around the follicles contributing to back acne.
How does epidermal levelling work?
The skin is cleansed thoroughly and then degreased to ensure there is no residual oil remaining on the skin. The skin is held tight and the blade is scraped across the skin at a 45-degree angle. Epidermal Leveling is performed with a sharp, stainless steel blade called an Epi-Blade. Similar to shaving, Epi-Blade gently glides over the skin, removing the upper layers. removal of dead cell build up minimising congestion and pore blockage. It also increases the rate of new cell turnover in the deeper levels of the skin to stimulates the production of the skin’s own collagen and elastin increases absorption of active skin products. Once the entire area has been treated, clients are able to return to their normal activities.
