What are scars?
Scars are the result of your body’s natural ability to heal itself. In all honesty, scars are somewhat miraculous as far as your health is concerned. However, they present cosmetic issues that most clients would prefer to do without. Not all scars are the same if fact there are a number of different types. Keloid scars are the result of overcompensation during the healing process. The body produces too much tissue, resulting in skin that protrudes outward. When the skin is burned, the result is a contracture scar. These look like the skin has been pulled tight, and they often hinder movement due to tightened tissues. Hypertrophic scars are raised, red scars. They are caused by excessive collagen, which contributes to the scar rising above the skin level. Acne scars come after severe acne has disappeared. These create a dimpled or pitted look in the skin. Our skin therapists are experienced in scar and acne scar treatment. If you’ve got an unsightly scar from a surgery, injury, acne or other cause, it may be time to seek treatment.
